Counselling for Anxiety
Anxiety can affect your life significantly, leading you to avoid activities, relationships, or pushing yourself to achieve life goals. It could be that you have a specific anxiety related to a trigger, such as anxiety around having a health problem or driving, or a more general anxiety where you just feel worried or panicky with no idea why.
You might engage in specific rituals to try to manage this unpleasant feeling, spend lots of time looking up symptoms on Google or planning to try to avoid or manage the feared situation. If any of this sounds like your situation, then be reassured that I can help.
I offer effective therapy which is based around developing an individual understanding of your situation, and then helping you to learn skills to manage tolerating emotion and changing your usual pattern of responses.
We will work together at your pace with a warm compassionate approach to your difficulties, knowing that you do what you do for good reason, and that you will make changes when you feel safe to do so. I can work from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy approach, integrating compassion and mindfulness.
Where anxiety is triggered or maintained by relationships, I can help you to think about involving others in sessions.
Counselling for Depression
Depression can feel like being down a deep hole, where there is no hope of change and feelings of worthlessness and failure can be over-whelming. It could be that you are struggling with sleep and eating, and a lack of motivation generally or in specific areas.
You might be drinking more alcohol than you would prefer, to try to manage this dark feeling. You are probably withdrawing from others, avoiding activities which used to be pleasurable. If any of this sounds like your situation, this is an area where I have lots of experience helping people to improve their lives.

Counselling for Low Self-esteem
It could be that you are struggling with a general idea that you are not good enough, or are unworthy of the people and things in your life.
Many people are highly self-critical, a habit which is usually internalised from negative early experiences. You might be able to be kind and understanding to others, and be very passive in your relationships and then end up resentful, but with no way to express your own needs and wishes to others.
